Our aims and principles
We’re following the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and aiming for Level AA accessibility. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user friendly for everyone.
This site has been built using code compliant with W3C standards for HTML and CSS. The site displays correctly in current browsers and using standards compliant HTML/CSS code means any future browsers will also display it correctly.
What we’ve done
We have built the site with the following features to achieve Level AA accessibility:
Skip link
At the top of every page, there is a link marked “Skip to content” that is activated by the tab key. For those primarily using a keyboard to navigate the site, tapping enter on it will take you directly to the main content and skip the navigation.
Color contrast
Most text on the site is dark on a white background or white on a dark background for optimal contrast and legibility.
Page zoom
To accommodate people who prefer reading larger text, page functionality will remain intact at all zoom levels.
Reduced motion / show animations
All modern operating systems provide a setting called “Reduced Motion” where users can indicate they prefer less physical motion on-screen. The Jaspa website respects this setting and stops animations, video autoplay, sliders and transitions for users when this option is selected.
Markup for screen readers
Our website has implemented titles, alternative text for images, separate semantic sections for navigation, content and footer, and uses ARIA to improve the screen reader’s capability.
